And so it begins!

So many things are happening for me this year! Great friends. Fun memories. A lot of learning. California surpassed my expectations 10-fold. I continue to fall more in love with this city every day. Today marked a milestone. After 8 months in La La Land, I finally got a internship!

Over the past few weeks, I submitted several resumes and cover letters with no response. After a while, started feeling very discouraged. Yesterday, I sent out one more email. Finally. Someone responds. I am very proud to announce that I will be working as an Intern at Period Media, a small entertainment agency in Los Angeles. Firm specializes in design, marketing and public relations for a wide range of clientele.

The company seems like a perfect fit and has all the attributes I have been looking for. I know I have a lot of work and very busy schedule ahead of me, but I finally feel like I took the first step for my future career in public relations.

Looking forward to updating you all on my first job in PR!

Much Needed Update!

Hello all.

I apologize for the lack of post. Life continues to be busy as always.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time home over the holidays catching up with friends and of course visiting with my wonderful family. It is amazing to me how much more you can appreciate your family when you are far far away. Oddly enough, home was different. After my first 6 months in California (GASP), Louisiana seemed like a get-away. (Sorry Mom & Dad) I really enjoyed being home, but couldn't wait to get back to La La Land.

Last semester went very well. Aside from having one of the most amazing professors, I made incredible friends who have impacted my time here. All As and a B, even with all my extra-cirruculars. :) CSUN has nothing on LSU, but it is great school. I miss my Tigers and of course, LSU ATHLETICS!!!

Life is good. So much to update. The longer I am here, the more convinced that I will be back. Right now main goal is internship! Scary, Scary, Scary. I can't believe I have less than 3 semesters left and I will be a college graduate. Where does the time go? Seems the older I get, the faster time flies. My only advice, waste none.

Look for more updates in the future.

My first visitor! Welcome to L.A. Amanda Musso

This past weekend was a blast. One of my very dear friends, Amanda, came to visit me. She flew in on Wednesday and departed on Sunday morning. We had the best time.

I picked her up from the airport at noon on Wednesday. After grabbing a bite to eat in the Valley, we headed off to Santa Monica. We shopped on 3rd street, played on the beach, and walked along the pier. Then, the wonderful Hookah Man treated us to a fabulous italian dinner, then off to Hollywood we went. First night in town, we had to show her the nightlife! Such good times!

Thursday, we spent most of the day relaxing and catching up on sleep from the night before. Later on we did a little more shopping. We visited the LA Arts Museum, then headed to the Grove and the Farmers Market. Once we left there, we drove through Beverly Hills and of course went down the famous Rodeo Drive. Amanda got her first taste of L.A. traffic on the way home! We finished off the night with a little hookah and persian food at the Spot, which was simply delicious!

Friday, I had a midterm. Later on that evening we went back down to Hollywood and had sushi at Geisha, a very trendy restaurant. After sushi, we worked our way into a private party. LOL It was like a scene from wedding crashers. A friend was attending an engagement party upstairs and invited us up. We became the life of the party. Chelsea, Amanda and I showed them how us Southern girls have a good time!

Saturday, Amanda and I woke up early and went to Runyan Canyon. SO BEAUTIFUL. SO HARD. After only about 30 minutes, I was ready to turn around. Maybe one day soon, I will be able to complete the whole route. Seeing L.A. from the hills is truly mezmorizing. We continued to Venice Beach, where we enjoyed the boardwalk and beautiful shoreline. Sail boats and sunshine! It was so pretty. Once we left Venice, I took her along the famous Mulholland Drive. This is such a beautiful drive with the best views. Saturday night, we went to the Hollywood Wax Museum then to Las Palmas, another club in Hollywood.

Sunday, We woke up around 5 a.m. and headed to the airport. To say she was only in town for a couple of days, we got a lot done! Good times and great memories. It was so nice to introduce her to my L.A. friends. A little taste of home! Then, I rested!!!

Bikram Yoga

As true Californians, Chelsea and I knew we had to try this Yoga deal. There is a place close by called Bikram. This is a different type of yoga. A hot type of yoga. I was extremely nervous and heard from many before I went how difficult the class was going to be. A few people told me they passed out!! That didn't stop us.

Before we started Chelsea and I made sure to get on opposite ends of the room. If we would have been standing next to each other, I know we would have gotten kicked out from laughing!! HAHA

So I thought I died about half way through. It was intense. A 90 minute workout in a room about 105 degrees is just insanity. Afterwards, I really felt amazing. This was such a rewarding experience, hard as hell, but wonderful.

Hopefully, we will be able to go back and finish the class again. The instructor complemented us both on how well we did for our first time. Guess we are Yoga naturals!

Viva Las Vegas!

I finally went to Vegas! What a trip. My mom was speaking at a national nursing convention there, so I had to go. :) This was an experience. All kinds of first occurred. I flew on an airplane for the first time in my life! Crazy. That was a fun experience. I had a little trouble finding the right gate, but I eventually got there. I was very fortunate to have a drunk 60 year old man trying to hook me up with the asian engineer to his right the entire time! LOL Good thing it is only a 45 minute flight. Flying to Vegas at night is probably one of the coolest things I have seen. All the lights... incredible.

I was very excited to be picked up by my mom and sister at the airport. This was officially the longest time we all had been apart. My godmother and her daughter were also on the trip! What a treat. Love them and we always have a blast together! We stayed at the Palazzo, which is apart of the Venetian family. BREATHTAKING. The rooms were so nice and spacious. The first night we walked over to the Wynn to have drinks. I am still amazed as to how nice all the hotels were. I was very excited to spend time with my mom and my sister, but was a little bummed that my pops couldn't make it. Or so I thought... that man I swear!! So tricky. He ended up flying in late Friday night and spent the weekend with us! Words cannot explain my excitement! So nice to have almost the whole family there.

We did so much. Dinner and water show at the Bellagio, Drinks at the Wynn, spent one evening at Mandalay Bay, walked the Strip, etc. Unfortunately, I did not win any money... in fact I lost about $60. LOL No more gambling for me. One of the coolest things we did was take an airplane tour of the Grand Canyon. What a beautiful sight. It is very hard to see that and not believe there is a God. Dad got to check one more thing off the ol bucket list.

It was such a great trip. A very much needed outting with my family! Think I might have to go back soon... : )

Much needed update...

I have completely abandoned my blog lately! Not because the fun has stopped, but because I have literally not! Where to begin...

I guess I will start with school. CSUN is o.k. It is a little difficult to transfer from a university like LSU where its so much more than a school, but a community! CSUN is very much a commuter school. Hard to get involved or really even go to class. :) I have one absolutely amazing PR class. I am in love with the teacher and the course. She is incredible. Hard as hell, but so rewarding.

I did get a job a few weeks ago. The girls I work with are amazing. It has been nice to expand my network here. Looking forward to getting to know them and starting to have a good time together! Job is o.k. Pays the bills.

As far as fun... I am still having a lot of that. So much to do out here. My partner in crime, Chelsea Blake and I had the opportunity to go to some amazing clubs Downtown, in Hollywood and in Santa Monica. We have eaten at several restaurants in the area. Discovered the most amazing Italian Cafe on Ventura the other day called Spumoni! Wonderful. Such a quaint place. And, the food... INCREDIBLE.

All in all... Life is good. I have met some incredible people and I am experiencing amazing things. I really miss my family and friends.

Got a Job!

Woo Hoo!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed my vacation, but now it is over. I finally got a part-time job which means I have a lot more play money! What a relief.

Interview was hilarious. After about 5 minutes of chatting with regional manager, he instructs me to start over and says that he was not listening to a word of what I was saying. I was extremely taken back. LOL He explained that he was not expecting the accent to come out and it really threw him off. I love it. I guess my Southern charm paid off in the end.
